We are now officially in the autumn season, and what better way to embrace the months ahead than to get creative with our interior styling. Our Creator Takeover began last week on our socials and blog, celebrating all things trending styles, ideas from some of Instagram’s top influencers and our amazing customers. In today’s blog post we’ll be looking at 8 easy creative ways you can mark the season in your home, and be inspired over the next few weeks of the Creator Takeover, to create a truly cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

1. Incorporate nature into your interior scheme

Autumn is the perfect time to start foraging when out on countryside walks and bringing a sense of the outdoors in. This trend has become increasingly popular as we discover a newfound appreciation for the outdoors. Consider creating your own autumn wreath to hang on the doorway or even in your living room – natural elements always look elegant alongside our authentic wood designs.

2. Sustainably minded choices

As making sustainable choices become increasingly important to us all, it is good to have peace of mind when taking on your next renovation project for the next season. We are really proud that the MSeries collection is recognised for its low impact on the environment in all aspects – production process, product consumption, emissions & indoor air quality and sustainable construction.

3. Combine rustic with classic and contemporary

Modern-rustic interiors combine both classic and contemporary trends to create a timeless feel in any home. We love the look of stylish chequerboards against wooden kitchen units, with the monochromatic tones adding a modern edge to the design. Our floors are easy to clean and care for using our Floorspa kits, meaning they are great for high footfall areas such as kitchens.

4. Create a multifunctional space

Zoning and borders is another trend we’ve been loving this year, and there’s no better time to create a multifunctional and social space before, dare we say it… Christmas comes around!

Zoning is a popular way of dividing open-plan spaces through the use of vintage screens, colour block walls or flooring. Our customers love combining our wood planks with our Design Series tiles to create a separation in rooms, perfect for dining and living areas or large kitchens. This way, you still have the sense of space created through open-plan design, whilst still fully utilising the area. As we continue to combine working from the office and home, this can be a great way of separating flexible home office nooks that then can transform into dining areas after office hours.

5. Think uplifting and trending tones

One easy way to update your home ready for the new season is by adding a splash of colour. This can easily be achieved with Harvey Maria flooring, a great way to transform a room in need of a glow-up!. Warm Yellow is set to be a trending tone for 2022, and we’ve loved seeing popular lifestyle bloggers Treasures & Travels update their renovated van with our tiles. Contrast with natural wood textures for an uplifting feel that will look gorgeous with autumnal light streaming through the windows! Other classic autumn colours such as terracotta and deep greens are also options that can create a seasonal backdrop – consider our Northmore Fired Terracotta or Pattern Meadow Green to get the look, or browse through colours on our website to find the right autumn shade for your home.

6. Add warmth with neutrals

As we crave that autumnal sunshine, we are starting to want to add extra warmth into our homes, which is why warmer toned neutrals are in this season. Our Northmore Mortar is a perfect example of how to achieve this through the flooring. Or alternatively, opt for a more grey-toned design and add warm neutral textiles such as tea towels, cushions and throws to add contrast.

7. Autumnal entranceways

One of our favourite ways to get creative is through styling entranceways. Whether you want to make a great first impression with a geometric and colourful porch or create a soothing and welcoming atmosphere in your hallway with a boho scheme, we have plenty of design inspiration to fit with your interior style. Consider seasonal touches such as foraged wreaths and mini pumpkins to add a pop of trending colour.

8. Think texture

Organic and soft textures work well to add a sense of hygge into your home, creating a cosy atmosphere. Texture is important in all features of a room, for example, our Northmore tiles feature an ultra-realistic patina effect which gives a more authentic feel reminiscent of encaustic tile design. Luxury Vinyl is also warmer underfoot than ceramic tiles, again adding to the cosy atmosphere. Our MSeries woods also have a detailed wood grain, giving the look and feel of real wood, creating an impressive authentic finish that will last for years to come.
