Our bedrooms have become more than just an area for sleeping, with lots of us creating mini office nooks to work from home, or to store toys to entertain the kids over their summer break. With this need for multifunctional spaces in mind, today’s blog will be looking at ideas that can easily be achieved to create a more seamless interior style…
Modern boho –
During the warmer months, there’s nothing better than coming home and relaxing in a clean and refreshing room with a contemporary aesthetic. A modern approach can also create a minimalist effect (normally through clever storage solutions giving the illusion of a tidier space!). However, we have also seen a lean towards more carefree, boho styling which perfectly complements the clean whites and neutral tones of modern trends. Boho styling can add a more homely and personal feel, especially important in our bedrooms which is where we can create a calming space that reflects our personality. Think of combining our authentic wood effect flooring with soft linens, natural textures and pops of pastel tones to achieve this look, that would look equally chic in a city apartment as in a beach-front home.
Cottagecore continues –
Our love for Cottagecore – the countryside inspired trend of the moment – began during the stripped back months of last year’s lockdown. It is set to stay as we see this lifestyle reflected in our interior choices, creating a sense of cosiness even during the summer season. In terms of bedrooms, think of combining vintage furniture, natural textures and light-toned flooring to brighten up modern-rustic schemes. This can also extend to your home office area – why not bring a sense of the outdoors in with dried flowers or repurposed shelving to blend vintage items into your interior space.
Scandi pastels –
Despite our love for neutral tones, many of you are looking to add a touch of colour and warmth to your decor this season. One trend we are seeing emerging over on our Instagram feeds is pops of light pastels mixed with Scandinavian interiors. This works particularly well in children’s bedrooms – we enjoyed styling a statement piece of furniture with our bleached out MSeries White Oak wood planks. This creates a playful and fresh space that still lends itself to a contemporary style. Other ways you can use soft pastels is through textiles such as tea towels, bunches of dried flowers such as hydrangeas and in colour block walls. The great thing about our MSeries woods is that they are easy to restyle as your interior tastes change, so adding pops of colour is a way of transforming any space seasonally or as trends evolve.
Bring a sense of the summer in –
Experimenting with natural light is one easy way to add a sense of space and light to any room. Many of us are opting to bring elements of the outdoors in for a laid back vibe which can also be achieved in smaller spaces. In last week’s blog post we discussed some of the unique and stylish projects our customers have been working on in recent months. One of the most popular choices for renovations this year was campervan/trailer renovations to create a ‘home from home’ on the move for a summer staycation!
One problem many people come across is planning how best to utilise their space. This is even more prevalent when decorating the bedroom area of a van, so it can be adapted back into a living area during the day. We loved the below transformation from popular lifestyle bloggers Treasures & Travels. They used our colourful Parquet Mimosa tiles throughout the bedroom and kitchen-diner area of their van to complement the use of natural light. The yellow tones worked well with the natural wood materials and decor, adding a sense of cosiness. This contrasted beautifully with the floral wallpapering and natural green backdrop of the outdoor spaces they travel to.
