The festive season can be a time to reflect on the year and look forward to the new one to come. It’s time for a well-deserved break from our bigger projects, which leaves the opportunity to get ahead with some mini projects to start your year off on the right foot. This week’s blog will look at some simple ideas for your home you can easily slip into your festive plans…
Deep cleaning made easy –
Usually, one of the least enjoyable parts of hosting at Christmas is the big winter clean beforehand. Our top tip is to break it down into rooms and start off by doing a bit of decluttering so that your Christmas decorations are shown in their full festive glory! All of our floors are super easy to clean – just order your FloorSpa kit in time for Christmas to clean with ease. The kit has everything you need to make your floors shine like new, also giving you peace of mind long-term when used in high footfall areas of the home. It’s also something you’ll be thankful to have to hand when doing your new year clean! *
*Covid-19 Notice: The FloorSpa Cleanse detergent solution breaks down the outer membrane of the virus, removing Coronavirus contamination from the surface of the floor. The FloorSpa Protect surface treatment then seals the surface of the floor making the removal of bacteria even easier, giving added peace of mind for you and your family.
Getting Instagram worthy snaps –
This time of year can fly by, filled with trips to the Christmas market, last-minute dashes to find those panic presents and chilled evenings in with family and friends. One thing to add to your reminders is to take a few snaps of your Christmas decorations now, then again once your home is refreshed in the new year. Future you will be thankful for capturing these memories as it’s one of the most important times of year for using our homes! We love seeing our floors styled in your own way at home, especially during the festive season, so make sure to tag us @harveymaria and use the hashtag #MyHarveyMaria for your chance to be featured on our feed and stories! Interior styling can be a fun and creative outlet, and the possibilities are endless of how you decide to decorate.
Create a dream home mood board –
In the post-mince pie, cosy days in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve we often find ourselves scrolling aimlessly through our phones. Why not utilise that time to start your very own dream home mood board? We love finding inspiration through saves on Instagram or by creating boards on Pinterest. You can theme your boards by room, trending looks, colour palettes and more, and it’s an easy visual way to plan out your projects for the year ahead. One of our favourites boards from this year was Cottagecore Aesthetic Home – a popular trend inspired by carefree living and bringing a sense of the outdoors in. Creating a board allowed us to visualise ways to reimagine our designs to suit a modern-day Cottagecore home, including soothing nature-inspired colour palettes and decorative floral motif patterns.
Ordering your samples ready for the new year –
Once you’ve built your mood board and selected your favourite designs, it’s time to think about ordering your free samples of your favourite designs. Ordering samples is easy online and is the best way to get a feel for the colour tone and look of your potential new floor. If you’ve got your heart set on one design in particular, why not order another colourway within the collection as a comparison. Once your samples have arrived, we suggest laying them in the room you are looking to renovate to see how they look within the light of the room and with the surrounding decor. This is also important if you’re thinking of combining our luxury vinyl tiles with our ultra-realistic wood planks to create borders or zones as you’ll get a feel of how they blend together.
Create a Christmas wreath –
Why not get creative with wreath making – a sustainable way to reuse foraged decor or flowers you’ve received this season. We love tying in the colour scheme of our wreath with the colours of our home during Christmas time, as this sets the tone for the decor from the moment your guests arrive at your door. Alternatively, they make a great statement piece on your fireplace to contrast with the bold colours of your surrounding patterned flooring. We love getting inspo for our wreaths from our favourite Instagram interior gurus!
