Decorating with floors

Strong heritage tones are steering the colour trends, with Autumn / Winter predictions championing bold pigments – from deep blue and frosty grey, through merlot, to opulent olive green. These classic shades work equally well in traditional and contemporary spaces, on walls and woodwork, but they can also create a fabulous style statement underfoot.

Bold coloured floor decors bring an interior alive, from its root, and work best when contrasted with a neutral shade. Repeating linear patterns, like these designs from Harvey Maria’s Design Series, draw the eye and introduce colour and symmetry, in designs spanning from petal motifs to striking geometric patterns. We love the Dovetail collection designed by Neisha Crosland, and the Lattice collection by Dee Hardwicke.

These on-trend patterned designs can also be framed with single coloured tiles, or a contrasting décor, like an ultra-realistic wood effect. This creates a fabulous horizontal feature and can be used to zone floor areas, like under a table, around a kitchen island or butchers block, or to create a hallway runner.
