‘Beige-core’ and ‘vanilla girl interiors’ are all over our social media feeds right now, as more of us lean into neutral, quieter interior aesthetics and opt for a more subdued and restful style for our homes. It’s a move away from the dopamine décor and maximalist trends that we’ve seen in recent times; and we’re here for it.

Using neutral colours in the home can get a bad rap; sometimes classed as dull or boring, we’re believers that natural hues needn’t be bland and can instead add a touch of luxe and paired back simplicity to any space. A great way to bring neutral style to your next home project is with a wood-effect LVT floor, and our brand new Croft Oak collection perfectly emulates this.

With its conscious design, calming palette and perfect blend of style and durability, this new range is designed to complement both new build and more traditional homes. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to interior design; keep reading to see how we’ve taken natural, neutral style and brought it to life with the Croft Oak collection.

Golden highlights and warm tones

The joy of embracing natural neutrals in your home is that you can bring a certain warmth simply not achievable with a bolder pattern or colourful floor tile. With yellowy gold undertones, the likes of Flaxen Oak Herringbone and Rosehip bring a light and soft feel to a space, and can be styled alongside complementary creamy walls and cosy textiles.

Another lovely way to style these warm toned planks is with a pop of green; whether that be with a plethora of houseplants or trending green kitchen cabinets and paintwork, it allows you to get that natural style but with a subtle hint of colour.

Natural touch

Croft Oak wood effects are so realistic that you’d be forgiven for thinking they were real oak planks; when in actual fact, they’ve been through In Register Embossing which makes them super authentic looking and feeling. The structure of the top wear layer follows the design exactly, so all planks from the range look and feel just like natural wood. If you can see the knots, you’ll be able to feel them too; as you can see below with WildFox.

This means you’re bringing a natural texture to your home that adds interest and individuality; one thing to bear in mind when working with a neutral aesthetic is to introduce different textures and using an authentic LVT floor is a great way to do this.

Subtly contrast neutrals with colour

It may sound like an oxymoron, but netural decor can also benefit from a pop of colour from time to time. Take Rattan for example; the warm blonde tone is wonderfully natural looking and creates the sense of a lighter space, yet benefits from the complementary moody teal walls and nod to burnt orange in the accessories.

Worn Bark is another great example; we’ve styled it in this cosy cabin aesthetic with blue accents that give an outdoors/in vibe that is still wonderfully neutral despite the use of subtle colour.

Add a touch of Japandi style

Simply put, Japandi style is a blend of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics that brings a calm, casual and organic feel to a space. This look is all about minimalism, clean lines and tranquillity; Pale Oak is a great example of how to bring this to your home. The bleached out planks give that restful feel to modern homes, ultimately giving a soft backdrop to bedrooms and bathrooms. It’s natural and sustainable interior design at its finest.
