Checkerboard pattern

Checkerboard is a massive trend for 2022 – Pinterest trend reports showed that we were searching more and more for checkerboard inspo (+160% more searches in January were made for checkerboard pattern). We have an unrivalled selection of plain coloured floor tiles that can be used to create all checkerboard patterns – everything goes this year and we are seeing fabulous schemes that go way beyond the classic black & white. By combining our Heritage Squares tiles you can create your very own personal look that’s set to last for years to come, whether that be timeless monochrome (set to be a big hit this year) or bold colour. Clash patterns for an eclectic feel, or go with the cool patterned and plain look we love seeing on our Instagram feeds right now.

Luxe spaces and zoned nooks

With many of us spending more time working from home, it is important to have areas that separate family and work life, and can be used multi-functionally to utilise space. Our Check and Dovetail flooring designs work with this trend in slightly smaller spaces, and can also be used to create and define ‘Spaces to escape’ such as Book Nooks, or to inject some luxe into a small laundry or utility area. Pinterest predicts ‘limitless luxe’ as a huge trend for 2022, with once forgotten spaces becoming the most talked about and creatively designed features of our homes. We saw this trend emerging last year as many Gen Z and millennials showcased their small space transformations that went viral on Tiktok, inspiring many renovators to think outside the box with their projects, no matter what size the space.

Alternatively, for larger rooms why not combine our patterns and MSeries woods to create zones for another way to divide multifunctional spaces without losing that open-plan feel? We’re seeing increasing creative ways to separate rooms, from classic room dividers now trending to colour schemes dictating zones.

Stylish sustainability

We are all looking for ways to incorporate sustainable living into our everyday lives, whether that be through our food, transport or at home. When it comes to sustainable options, we see the ‘limitless luxe’ trend continuing with people looking to invest in good quality and sustainable options for their homes. This in turn reflects the trend of adding organic, textured materials into our homes and we are really seeing growth in our Herringbone and Parquet collections, as they capture the attention of first time renovators looking to strike the perfect balance between sustainable, durable and gorgeous flooring.

This natural style can not only be used in flooring, but in decor too – why not reuse and upcycle vintage furniture? Our style favourite is combining this look with trending wicker furnishings for ultimate boho vibes, or opt for clean and fresh architectural-inspired lines and geometric vases/ candles for a sense of modern glam that we’re seeing everywhere right now. We are really proud that the Harvey Maria MSeries collection is recognised for its low impact on the environment in all aspects – production process, product composition, emissions & indoor air quality and sustainable construction. These hand-crafted designs with ultra-realistic wood grain emboss and a unique matt finish means that they look and feel like real wood, but are massively practical and durable. This means they not only will continue to look great for years to come, but they are also strong enough to withstand the demands of busy family homes too.

Colour positivity

Decorating with joyful colours from pastels to brights are all predicted to be big in 2022, as a nod to more carefree and expressive living. Terracotta, berry and warm, baked earth tones that imbue a sense of cosiness are here to stay, as are natural neutrals – stones, greens, browns & hints of yellow. Colour is a great way to express your personality at home and can help to change the atmosphere of a space. Consider opting for a soothing colour palette that naturally blends from room to room for the calming scandi pastel trend, or alternatively go bold with bright colour choices to inject some fun and character to each individual room.

Kitchens are at the heart of our homes, and we’re looking for further ways to make them a bright, social space – whilst also taking tips from bloggers on the best storage hacks so they can remain decluttered too! We’ve loved combining patterns with colourful walls and furnishings that inject cosy warmth to one of the most frequently used spaces of the home. We’re seeing more renovators opt for matching colour shades for both their walls, ceilings and cabinets as the colour drench trend evolves for 2022.
